HOSTEL LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

Well I don’t know how many of you feel the same but I feel once in everyone’s lifetime one should get an experience of the hostel life. For me it was amazing I went to a hostel when I came to Chandigarh for doing my graduation. Well for a child from a defense background it was quite difficult for me to settle in well it was not entirely my fault for DAV college was know to have some very good classic kind of people in that place. And yeah I remember there was a saying at that time “DAV college hostel the worst hostel you can ever send your child to.

But it taught me a lot of things after all living with your parents you are always in a protected environment and too much pampered. When at home we just say “ Bhaiya please bring my shoes” and our dad’s helper will come and give you your shoes. But in hostel you doo all your work on your own. And that’s what it is all about being independent in life so that one day you can stand on your own feet. It’s a total different world outside some good and some bad or should I say extremely bad but you need to know how to survive in this world and the best place to learn is hostel where you get to see all kinds of people. It was fun for me when I was at hostel. While you are at hostel your friends, your room mates are your family there is no mummy or papa who is going to listen to you. But there are your friends who will help you there. I still remember when I was in DAV college my first day in the hostel like a very disciplined guy I went of to sleep at 10 at night so that I can wake up in the morning on time for my classes. At around 11 there was a lot of noise outside my room in the corridor. I couldn’t sleep so I opened up my door and popped my face out to see what was happening and there my face was just missed by just a centimeter from a cricket ball for god sake these guys were playing cricket in the corridor at 11 o clock in the night. But soon it started to sink in. at 12’oclock there was a shout in the corridor for someone was going to the GH(Government hospital to get parathas and there were people who were giving orders for them and than we used to climb upon our gates and go and get parathas. Whenever we were supposed to go for movies it will only be fun republic and that also the last show of the day probably near 11 or 12. Watching over to the polytechnic hostel girls through binoculars. Going on gedi route from 11 sector to 36 sector to check out girls.

While you are in a hostel you are so independent to do anything you live on your own you sleep when you want you wake up when you feel its right no one to scold you or to keep a check on you. Absolutely free to do anything you want whether its from going out with friends to sit in the rose garden to bunking classes so that we could go and play pool it was one hell of a time. I feel you get to know the world in a much better and a practical way through your own experiences through hostel. God I still miss those days!!!!!!!!
